Minions: Something a little harder…

While posting about hot girls is a good thing and something Harley has totally nailed for me, the time has come to put your collective energies to work on something a little meatier.

Why? With luck, on March 15th I will be embarking on a new blog venture centered around fitness and lifestyle design. To that end I will be setting up a more rigorous gym schedule and much tighter control over my food intake. I will be designing both the workout and diet programs myself, but I want to have a decent overview of the current thinking to inform me.

I need clear, concise summaries of both “The Zone” and “South Beach” diets. Keep it down to a page or two. Important points will include…

  • A brief historical summary and origin information
  • Recommended proportions of fat / carb / protein
  • Any specific recommendations about how often to eat and portion size
  • Formulas for deriving caloric expenditure and / or recommended caloric targets by weight or other measurements
  • Water intake
  • Explicit connections to glycemic index theories

Some of you have strong research backgrounds so this should be easy for you. In this particular instance it is ok if more than one of you turns in such a summary, I will combine the best points. The resulting work may be published on the web and in a later book or other work, if this is a problem for you then simply don’t participate.
