iPads, Fat and Money… catching up with Soulhuntre

It has certainly been a while since I blogged a quick catch up. Essentially I twitter so much that I feel all the people who care already have a way to stay up to date. That’s true as far as it goes but I think it is also important to blog.

Why? Curation and archiving. This blog is mine, and it is safe. While I try and make the life stream tool catches my twitters, for now I need to treat them as if the were ephemeral.

In any case… Let’s do a fast catch up.

* As we speak Kimiko is off visiting her parents and doing her best good daughter routine. She is due back Monday evening and I have to say I miss the little Imp running around.

* Speaking of missing people I also haven’t been able to see as much of Tatsumi as I would liken the last few week (ok, the last few YEARS ๐Ÿ˜‰ but we have both been working really hard and that’s the way it goes sometime.

* Thanks to a business partner / friend / client I am typing this post on an iPad while chilling in bed. I will be doing a full review for another of my blogs but the short form is this… Tablets like the iPad will rule the world. However the iPad itself is not even close to the best example we will see this year. So far the HP Slate looks like it will be awesome and have everything the iPad lacks. Don’t misunderstand, the iPad is very cool and is a decent tool… But it is not in the sweet spot yet.

* In biz news I think I have found the right business for my post development focus. I have always done social media consulting (from before there was a term for it) but it was a side effect or adjunct to development efforts. The opportunity is here to focus full bore on it in partnership with a good friend and make use of all the skills we have here in the local pack. Not only that but the money should be AWESOME.

* in further biz news, I will be balancing my efforts on the above with the commitment to make sure I deliver for the clients who are currently in the pipeline. One of the in particular (you know who you are!) came through with a fantastic project right when I needed it and has been waiting patiently. I will be making very sure I get that all settle up for her asap.

* I have been working on my fitness as part of something I call “the Stark project”. I have been tracking my calories in and out. The out part is easy… Make sure I get to the gym and keep my GoWear handy. The in tracking is harder. For a week or two I have been using Sparkpeople in an effort to get social with some folks who use the site all the time. However as of this evening I think I will be returning to FatSecret instead. Essentially the FatSecret folks simply have a much better grip on the technology I use. They have a kick ass Android app that will read bar codes and a great dedicated iPad app. Additionally the staff over at Sparkpeople really has a “we know best, suck it up” attitude that pisses me off.

Ok, that about wraps it up!

Later!
